Privacy policy

Who we are

hampshire.events (“we”, “us”) operates this website. We are the data controller for the personal information described below. To get in touch about privacy, email [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us

• Interest sign-ups. When you use an “I'm interested” form on an event, we collect the name and email you enter, and whether you opted in to our occasional networking roundup.
• Event, organiser and venue submissions. If you add a listing (through our app), we collect the details you provide so we can publish and manage it.
• Messages. If you contact us, we keep your message and contact details to reply.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage and device data such as pages viewed, approximate location, referring site, browser and device type, collected through analytics cookies (see below).
• Server and map requests. Loading map tiles sends your IP address to the relevant tile provider so the map can be served.

Cookies, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager to load and manage tags on the site, including Google Analytics (GA4). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects anonymised information about how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are popular and how people arrive), which helps us improve it. IP addresses are truncated/anonymised by Google Analytics.

These analytics and any future marketing tags are only loaded where permitted, and you can decline or withdraw consent at any time using your browser settings or our cookie controls. You can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on. Strictly necessary cookies that make the site work do not require consent.

How we use your information

• To show events and let you express interest in them.
• To publish and moderate listings people submit.
• To send the networking roundup, only if you opted in.
• To understand and improve how the site is used (analytics).
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

Legal bases (UK GDPR)

• Consent for marketing emails and non-essential (analytics/marketing) cookies.
• Legitimate interests for running, securing and improving the directory.
• Legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information by law.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We use trusted providers to run the service, including:

• Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) for measurement.
• Supabase for hosting listing data.
• Map and geocoding providers (OpenFreeMap, Esri, OpenStreetMap / Nominatim) which receive your IP when map tiles or lookups load.
• Our hosting provider for serving the site.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep interest sign-ups and listing details for as long as needed to provide the service, and analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. We delete or anonymise data when it's no longer needed.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your personal information, object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children

This site is intended for business users and is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows the latest version.
